Fall Looks – Steven Alan

Well, we’ve just come off a weekend where it has legitimately felt like fall… It was in the upper 50s in Chicago, and the South saw some cooler temps (even got into the 40s down in Huntsville, AL!). And it’s also starting to get darker a little earlier each day. So let’s continue with the fall vibes from last week and feature another look I’m digging from another brand: Steven Alan. Based in New York, Steven Alan has been able to cultivate a clean aesthetic with modern twists… and he does it well. Here’s a look I’d be happy to rock (and could, considering I own a lot of these items).

Traditional Weatherwear – Waverly Quilted Coat

Steven Alan – Forte Band Collar Shirt

Rowena Sartin – Basik Leather Belt

Wings+Horns – Westpoint Chinos

Barbour – Kendal Sock

New Balance – 696 Deconstructed Sneaker

D.o.P. Travels: Boston

Oh boy, Boston is a great place! My wife and I just spent a much needed long weekend there to celebrate my birthday, and we had a great time. We had fantastic weather (until the last day when it got a lot a little toasty), so we definitely took advantage of the walkable nature of the city… and we saw a lot.

I’ve been to Boston a few times before, but the amount of history in that city gets me every time. The sites so integral to the birth of our nation are pretty much around any corner or just down the street, which is pretty damn cool if you ask me.

Favorites from the trip: Oysters and Sam Adams Colonial Ale at Union Oyster House (it’s touristy, but it’s the longest continuous running restaurant in the country and the only place you can get that beer), Mike’s Pastry in the North End (bring cash), enjoying the shade in Boston Gardens, the spanish latte at Pavement in Back Bay, and the shopping on Newbury and in Copley Square Mall.

Hoping we can get back sometime again soon.

New Arrivals all over the place…

As we get closer and closer to Labor Day (a.k.a. the “end of summer”), our inboxes are getting quite full of emails from different brands announcing their new fall arrivals. This is a very good thing, if you ask me. I know I’m not alone in my love of dressing for fall. These brands know this, and are bringing it hard… Here’s what has been catching my eye lately:

Ebbets Field Flannels City Series Sweatshirts – These aren’t that new, but I love them. The Chicago and Atlanta sweatshirts will be a must for me this fall.

Summer Reads

Who doesn’t love a good book? Great for passing time… great for learning… great for entertainment. I mostly read non-fiction as I really enjoy learning about the lives of people of note. Here’s what I’ve been reading this summer, and a few books I’m still planning to get to.

What book has your nose been in lately? What else should I be reading?

The Rotation: Fall Boots

Fall is coming. We are a mere three weeks away from college football. A mere four weeks away from NFL football. A mere six weeks away from the Autumnal Equinox. Time to get your mind right and your feet set. It’s almost time to break out the boots. Here’s what I’m planning on slip my feet into this fall…

Oak Street Bootmakers – Color 8 Trench Boot with Dainite Sole: These will take a beating this fall.

Clarks Desert Boots in Olive Suede: Nothing wrong with a good ole fashioned pair of desert boots.

Dan Post Mignon Leather Cowboy Boots: I was born in Texas, raised in Tennessee… Of course I wear cowboy boots.

Justin Classic Roper Boots: I was born in Texas, raised in Tennessee… Of course I wear roper boots.

Blundstone Original 500 Boots: For when the weather ain’t cooperating.

What’s your rotation looking like?

D.o.P. Spotlight: Huckberry

We are very pumped to announce a new partnership with Huckberry. It’s no secret – these guys know what they’re doing. In just a few years, the San Francisco based website has become one of the coolest corners of the Internet by curating some serious style and gear.

Beyond having an awesome selection of vintage Rolexes, US-made denim and footwear, and shops like “Everyday Carry Essentials,” friends of the blog Old Try and FormFunctionForm even have products stocked on Huckberry’s virtual shelves. Can’t beat that! So head over to browse their fantastic goods, read some amazing content,  and give them some love.

We can officially say that there is only one more month until the greatest time of the year: the start of college football. Now for some of y’all, like say fans of South Carolina, UCF, or Georgia Tech for example, you have a little less than a month. But for me and my fellow Rebels, Ole Miss’ 2015 football season starts in 31 days. I can hardly contain myself.

Unfortunately, I’m only going to be able to make it down to Oxford for one game this year (the Texas A&M game for those of you wondering). But this is looking to be quite the exciting season, and hopefully the Rebs can keep the momentum of last season going (except for that time we were steam rolled by TCU in the Peach Bowl… but TCU should have been in the CF Playoffs).

So who’s your team? Who do you think will take the SEC West and SEC East? Who do you think will make this year’s CF Playoffs? I know who me and the King are pulling for…

Hotty Toddy!
